Sweat plays the role of cooling our body down and it helps us detox – both important to our general well being. When puberty hits, our body develop apocrine glands carrying secretions of proteins and fats from within the body. When we sweat, the odour-causing bacteria on our skin feed on these proteins and fats, which decompose to cause the body odour.
How products work
Many of us rely on antiperspirant and deodorant to minimise body odour. Antiperspirant prevents sweat glands from releasing any sweat with Aluminium compound. Multiple studies link Aluminium to Alzheimer’s and breast cancer , more research is needed before any conclusions can be drawn. We do know our underarm tissue contains hormone receptors which could absorbed and stored chemical in its fat cells. We also know these compounds mess up your natural microbiome, which could make the stinky problem even worse on the long term.
Deodorants don’t stop sweat. Conventional Deodorant uses active antimicrobial ingredients such as Parabens and Triclosan to control the odour-causing bacteria to keep us odour free. Both are known toxic ingredients to avoid.
When it comes to which product works best for you, its always worth understanding how it works and its ingredients to make a decision that’s best for you. If you have been using antiperspirant, it could take a 10 to 14 days for natural deodorant to reach optimal performance. Your underarms need to flush out and rebalance its skin microbiome from previous products. We recommend you to use our WOOD exfoliate coconut oil soap to expedite the detox process. Do keep in mind that natural deodorants won’t stop sweat. They work to prevent body odour when things heat up.
Discontinue if rash or irritation occurs. Do not use on broken skin.

Arrowroot is an easily digestible starch derived from the root of arrowroot plant. It is a better option than Talc, which may be contaminated with asbestos during production, a known carcinogen.

Cetyl Palmitate is a pure vegetable lipid ester derived from cetyl alcohol & palmitic acid (naturally occurring fatty acid). It is EcoCert approved and its Palm oil is certified sustainably soured.
Mainly composed of Lauric acid, organic WILD virgin coconut oil has antimicrobial properties to protect our skin against bacteria, fungus and virus. It is also a great emollient to keep skin hydrated.
Hand pressed from wild coconuts to oil in less than 60 minutes by islanders in the pristine Solomon Islands, WILD virgin coconut oil contains more bioactive components than its peers.
Elderberries are rich in a variety of phytonutrients that exhibit both antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. This unique superfruit also provides broad antimicrobial benefits to inhibit gram-postive bacteria, which is most prevalent in the armpit causing malodour.
We source PhytoCide Elderberry OS from Active Micro Technologies in United States. Elderberry fruit is first macerated to create a loose emulsion, and salted out and filtered.

An inactive ingredient, Isoamyl Laurate imparts a silky skin feel to the Prebiotic deodorant.

As part of our cruelty free ethos, we have chosen Jojoba wax, which is created from jojoba oil via interesterification. It is biodegradable and Ecocert approved.
An active ingredient, Magnesium Hydroxide effectively creates an optimal pH environment to prevent the growth of unpleasant odour causing bacteria.
Magnesium Hydroxide is an inorganic compound that occurs in nature as the mineral brucite. Magnesium is widely used as a dietary supplement as a vital mineral for over 300 biochemical reactions that regulate our health and wellness.
Most deodorants use baking soda, which causes irritation when use in high concentration and disrupt our skin’s protective acid mantle.
Rich in emollient moisturising properties, Unrefined Shea Butter also improves the “glide” of the Prebiotic deodorant while nourishing skin.
Fair Trade, unrefined Grade A Raw Shea Butter is extracted from the wild nut of the African Shea tree using sustainable and natural methods by women living in the Northern region of Ghana. A non-microbial active ingredient, Triethyl Citrate (Dermofeel TEC eco) has a long history of use in deodorants due to its ability to inhibit bacterial decomposition of epidermal residues and skin surface fat.
Dermofeel TEC eco is the first natural quality of Triethyl Citrate, produced through fermenting natural ethanol and natural citric acid, and it is Ecocert approved. It does not affect the natural skin flora, a non-irritant to the skin and showed no sensitising potential.
An active ingredient, Zinc oxide reacts with short fatty acids that are responsible for the unpleasant odour by converting them into odourless zinc salts. It is antibacterial, so it inhibits bacterial growth and the decomposition of sweat in our apocrine glands.
Zinc oxide is natural zinc ore, which is super-finely micronized with a mean particle size in the range of 30-55nm. It is not nano-particles and will not be absorbed by skin. It is Ecocert approved.
Zinc Ricinoleate traps and adsorbs body odour molecules formed during bacterial decomposition of perspiration. It also has no bactericidal or fungicidal properties, and therefore does not interfere with the natural flora of the skin
We source Zinc Ricinoleate from United States. It is the zinc salt of ricinoleic acid which is obtained from castor oil. Zinc Ricinoleate is used in our range of Mood Deodorants.
