Creamed Coconut (also known as Coconut butter, not to be confused with Coconut cream) is so delicious that we just eat it by the spoonful, straight from the jar. Due to the low moisture content, it is easily adsorbed directly into batters and dough or used as a base for ice cream. Mix 1 or 2 teaspoons with water or juice to make a creamy coconut milk drink or add it to coffee/cocoa as a non-dairy creamer. It can be blended in smoothies, mixed with melted chocolate, or spread on toast or crackers for a snack. Creamed Coconut can also be used as a natural thickener for curry or stir-fry.
Tip: Place jar in warm water till soft, mix well and pour mixture into an ice cube tray. Place tray into the fridge to harden the Creamed Coconut. Remove Creamed Coconut cubes from tray to put cubes into a jar and fridge.
Interesting facts: Coconut milk and creams contains mainly water. If fat content is 17%, it is call “Coconut milk”. If fat content is 24%, it is called “coconut cream”. Most coconut milk and creams have additives to prevent the water from separating from the coconut oil, hence may contain sulphites. Creamed Coconut has a naturally smooth and creamy consistency due to its high (70%) fat content. White coconut flesh is dried to remove its original water contents and then ground to a fine paste or “nut butter”. It is additives and preservatives Free.
